Kevin and Michael Goetz work harmoniously together, both investing the same visual style and narrative direction into each project. “It all starts with preparation. Filmmaking is a collaborative art-- all we do is take that collaboration and run with it.” With the adage two heads are stronger than one, the Emmy Nominated Goetz Brothers have been directing commercials and music videos for over 12 years, helming projects for Nissan, Honda, Disney, HBO, State Farm, McDonald’s and BMW to name a few. Beyond stunning film and polished style, the Brothers are accomplished storytellers, both visual in nature and dialogue driven. The duo has shown an uncanny ability to lace even the shortest of spots with layers of cohesive narrative and genuine emotion.
The Brothers were nominated for a Primetime Emmy for their opening design and direction of the Wonderful World of Disney for ABC and two of their commercials have been placed in the permanent collection in the Museum of Modern Art. They have had a music video win “Fuse’s Best Rock Video of the Year” and they have been shortlisted at Cannes. Their Call of Duty spot was shortlisted at the 2011 AICP Awards.
Both vigorously support strong casting and performance—a trait passed down to them from their father, actor Peter Michael Goetz. Throughout Peter’s long stage and film career the two could be found behind the scenes soaking up the process of production.
Michael earned a masters degree in film while attending USC’s School of Cinema, while Kevin graduated from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. The Goetz Brothers are repped by Los Angeles based Mirror Films, Anonymous Content and William Morris Endeavor.
